El Universal is a major Mexican newspaper. El Universal was founded by Félix Palavicini and Emilio Rabasa in October 1916, in the city of Santiago de Queretaro to cover the end of the Mexican Revolution and the creation of the new Mexican Constitution. The circulation of the print edition of El Universal is more than 300,000 readers and is considered one of the most influential and widely read newspapers in Mexico.

Juan Francisco Ealy Ortiz is the current CEO and President of El Universal since October 23, 1969. Among the main contributors of this newspaper are widely renowned journalists like Raymundo Riva Palacio, Jorge Zepeda Patterson, Alberto Aguilar, Ricardo Alemán and Katia D'Artigues.
