Established in 1989 by one of Ireland's best known print journalists, Vincent Browne, it is UCD's oldest surviving newspaper. It is currently edited by Conor McKenna and Ryan Cullen. The Tribune is famous for the launch of the satirical page The Evil Gerald, a "paper within a paper". The Gerald was succeeded by The Turbine in 2003, and they have featured such satirical stories as the Provisional IRA dropping its pursuit of a United Ireland in favour of occupation of the Isle of Man, and Osama bin Laden stealing the Magic Door from Bosco, which allowed him access to anywhere in the world.
